Fall Party : Recipes and Giveaway!

Hey Y'all,
Our poor little blog party has been greatly lacking! I apologize :-)
We have been so ridiculously busy!
I had planned on posting this sooner, but time is love and I just had to run...etc :p
For starters I wanted to let y'all know of a giveaway my dear sis has put together. A sweet etsy vendor has graciously sponsored a candle from her shop! It is sooo adorable. I love to see creative genius. :-)  So anywhoo... don't forget to enter!
Moving forward!
Fall is upon us,  and I am loving the tiny glimpse of it that we floridians receive :-) (Today was especially lovely!)
If you find yourself having trouble getting into the season, here is a recipe that will bring you right into the swing of things!
I made this for the family last year, and we never had leftovers :-)

½ t. Salt
1 C. Plus 2-4 T pwdr sugar - divided

½ t. Vanilla
Beat eggs on high speed for 5mins.
Gradually add sugar ; stir in pumpkin and lemon juice.

Line jelly roll pan with wax paper; spray with that stuff ( I don't know what its called :-/
Spread mixture over paper. Bake @ 325 for 15mins or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Turn onto towel sprinkled with 2-4 tbsp of powdered sugar ; set aside. Combine one cup of powdered sugar with remaining ingredients. Spread over cake. Gently roll up cake ( as you would a jelly roll) using wax paper to help push roll. Cool and serve chilled.

...

Ciao! A hello to you all! How are you all? I hope well.
Me? Busy, busy, busy! So busy that I rarely have time to post! :-)

Where to begin?!?

Well, I am another year older ( 18 to be exact :p)
Ah. Our Lord is good! I have learned much in the past year,  more and more of His great Love and mercy! ( of which I still learn more as the days go by)  Contentment,  trusting my heavenly Father as well as my earthly father in everything! ( the feeling of security it brings is hmmm....I cant find the right word,  but you get the idea!!! :-)

Musically, the Lord has opened many doors for me.
I have the great blessing of teaching at home now,  and  a handful of young students to go along.
( have I ever mentioned how I love little ones?!?)
Over the summer I had an awesome opportunity to learn a piano technique that I have longed to learn! ( Hymn Improv.)

Speaking of Longings...

Mariah and I have finally started the garden that we have wanted to plant since,....well lets just say a very long time :-)
We tried a  technique called "Lasagna Gardening "
It was a lot of fun prepping...and deciding what to plant :-)
We'll hopefully be eating a lot of lettuce, green beans, sugar snap peas,  cucumbers, okra, peppers, carrots, broccoli, onions and herbs this year! LOL
We are having an absolute blast watching them sprout up...just today we had around 31!!! ( we are ecstatic!) ;)

Hopefully I will be able to blog more.
Mariah and I are working on a Fall blog party. :-)
Also, there is a blog award I am working on...so  stay tuned!

Well my bed calls me to slumber, so goodnight dear friends,  God bless you all!

Love:

I  have been pondering this scripture all day,

How much do we really love those who are dear to us?

If Christ laid down his life for us, how much more should we truly love and cherish our family, and those we claim to love. It is the least we can do!

God bless you all,

Homemade ORGANIC Lotion :)

Hey Y'all,
Okay, so this morning I decided to do something I have been wanting to do for a LONG time!

When I was a "younger" child, I loved doing what I called "experimenting!"
(Mixing soaps and lotions together and creating that "extra" special something) :)
Along with my ever ready side-kick ( Mariah), We created the most unique line of cosmetics etc.

So, My passion as a child has now come to fruition, and My love of "goop"-Momma dubbed me the "goopy-girl"-, has turned into...Homemade Lotion!

Okay, Moving on...

Here is the great recipe I found:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Organic almond or olive oil
1/4 cup Organic coconut oil
1/4 cup beeswax
 1 teaspoon Vitamin E oil

Optional: 2 tablespoons Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter
Optional: Essential Oils, Vanilla Extract or other natural extracts to suit your preference

Combine ingredients in a pint sized or larger glass jar. (I cleaned out an old candle jar :-)

2. Fill a medium saucepan with a couple inches of water and place over medium heat.
As the water heats, the ingredients in the jar will start to melt. Stir occasionally to incorporate. When all ingredients are completely melted, pour into whatever jar or tin you will use for storage. Small mason jars (8 ounce) are great for this. It will not pump well in a lotion pump

Use as you would regular lotion.
I also use this as a lip balm!

Au revoir my Friends,
Until next time,

Alyssa

Mothers ...

Mothers day was Sunday, and I had meant to post then but Alas! It did not happen...
Besides Mothers day is all year round, right? :)

To begin, I love my Mom!
I am so thankful to God for her, She's my Best friend.
She has taught me all that I know...about anything!
Preparing me to someday be a future Wife and Mother, and teaching me by her Godly examples.
Following her Husband, and serving him  as the Lord intended
She's an Amazing shopper, cook, stylist and decorator!

Us girls and Momma at St.Augustine.

28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

I love you Mom!
